Time travel is possible and worth a try. Absolutely authentic and unique place. 5 stars just for the atmosphere. The owner herself Mrs. Weidinger seated us upon arrival. Just sit down, have a drink, read the paper provided on site and soak up the ambiance. Prices are unbeatable,too.

This place is not worth it, the stuff is so unpolite, i went with my boyfriend, we sit and wait for one hour. Nobody try to get close to us and give us the menu. Other people enter and they get serve but we didn’t. In the end when we decided to leave they look at us like they were happy we were leaving. In any moment we were disrespectful. I felt really dicriminated.

We ordered tea and hot chocolate after a cild day, it was nice and cozy. The only downside for me is that they don't accept credit, **only cash**.

"I absolutely loved the service here—warm, kind, and authentically Austrian. The highlight was the lovely elderly grandma who does the cooking; her dishes felt like true homemade comfort food. My 3-year-old was particularly fond of the place, and it’s easy to see why. Highly recommended for a genuine and heartwarming experience!"

One of my favourite spots in Vienna. Some reviews here talking about rudeness of waiters here but I think they are actually just a little slow and not ignoring you on purpose.

A great place to relax and have a beer or two or enjoy a coffee and some food. Laid back vibe reminiscent of the Whirling-in-Rags!

Café Weidinger too is a real Viennese institution. An absolute must-see, cozy, old-style, popular, shabby Viennese coffee house, with the obligatory misanthropic waiters. All in all, a real time machine!
The relaxed atmosphere lends itself to hours of conversation and reading. If you’re in the mood for games, they have Carom billiards tables and a Viennese-style bowling alley.
Literary readings are common here, and you may even recognize the interior from Jem Cohen’s movie Museum Hours.

I'm surprised that some people have had bad experience with waiters, I've been here a couple of times and the waiter has been helpful and charming! We only had ham and eggs and a melange which was great. The place is a bit (very!) shabby but that kind of lends to it's charm, it's a real time-warp. The gents toilet on the other hand should be condemned! Overall cosy and welcoming.

This is a place where you can truly feel the essence of old stories, nostalgic vibes, and the passage of time. The ambiance may feel a bit outdated, but it adds to the overall charm and creates a pleasant atmosphere. I encountered some genuinely kind and welcoming people during my visit. The caffé itself is typical of those found outside the city center—simple yet authentic.
